Wilmington Jaycees ask for turkey donations for needy families
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and most families in Wilmington are preparing to host a holiday feast, complete with the crowning holiday jewel - a juicy turkey.
But for many of the city's poorest families, a holiday meal is something that seems very far out of reach. Many have lost their jobs and are living day-to-day, fighting to survive in an economy that makes it impossible to get a break. And as unemployment continues to rise, more and more families are falling on hard times.

We are very excited to be hosting our first ever Charity Date Auction - "DATE FOR A CAUSE" - which will be held this Saturday, November 7th from 7pm-11pm at the Deerfield Country Club in Newark. DELAWARE RIVER WATERFRONT CORPORATION TO HOST CIVIC ENGAGEMENT MEETING
Pier 11, located on Columbus Boulevard at the foot of Race Street is one of the first public spaces to be designed and built by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation as an early action of the new Civic Vision for the Central Delaware Riverfront-a vision which was developed by Penn Praxis and the Central Delaware Advocacy Group. The goal is to develop Pier 11 into a publicly accessible riverfront amenity for residents and tourists. In order to emphasize the location of the park and its connection to the city, the project is now being called the Race Street Pier.
This meeting is the first of four important meetings for this project. The first three are designed to gather input from the public, while the final meeting will be the presentation of the final design.
Mayor Nutter is scheduled to speak. The event takes place from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Festival Pier at Columbus Boulevard at Spring Garden Street

46th Annual WIlmington Jaycees Christmas Parade
On Friday November 27th in downtown Wilmington, there will be a Christmas Parade from 11am -1pm. The parade will feature floats, local celebrities, community groups, marching and string bands and other performers. Santa Claus will make his debut as the 'star of the show.'
